D3: AMBOISE - VOUVRAY (12,5 miles) Walk along the Loire valley by Lussault-sur-Loire, the villages of Husseau and Montlouis-sur-Loire. You'll visit the village, the church with its presbytery prior to crossing the Loire through a walking trail next to the railroad. Walk on the right bank to Vouvray, famous wine center and home of 'troglodyte" houses dug into the cliffs. Dinner, lodging and breakfast in a two-star hotel. D4: VOUVRAY - TOURS (7 miles) Short but pleasant walk. You'll walk through Vouvray and stop by wineries and Montcontour castle. You'll carry on to Rochecorbon, a small village built against the cliff, and then reach the Loire riverbank on to Tours and the ancient Marmoutier abbey. Lodging and breakfast in a two-star hotel D5: TOURS Visit of the old medieval town; Plumereau square with its ½ timbered houses, the cathedral, St Martin Basilica. Perfect town for shopping too as the capital city of Touraine region. Lodging and breakfast in the same two-star hotel D6: TOURS - VILLANDRY (13 miles) Taxi transfer to the St Come priory in the city outskirts. Tour of the Priory, followed by a walk along the Loire riverbank to St Genough village protected from the river by a levee. Then inland bound, crossing a few hamlets with their historic homes and farm houses through orchards, nurseries and garden fields to reach the Cher river bank, an attribute of the Loire river, near Savonnieres. On to Villandry made famous by its formal gardens Dinner, lodging and breakfast in a two-star hotel D7: VILLANDRY - LANGEAIS (8 miles) The day will start with the visit of the Villandry castle, one of the last great castles built during the Renaissance and made famous by its royal orchard, medicinal garden, love garden and water garden. Walking along the Cher river bank you'll meet the Loire river bank which will lead you to Langeais with its fortress like period furnished medieval castle Dinner, lodging and breakfast in a two-star hotel D8: LANGEAIS.
