Day 1 – Tuesday- Rome-Assisi-Siena-Florence Early morning departure for Assisi, the mystic walled town of Saint Francis. Tour of the Basilica of St Francis with Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue. Lunch at leisure. On to Siena, a beautiful medieval town made famous by its Palio’s horse race. On to Florence. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Adriatico or similar.
Day 2 – Wednesday –Florence Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Guided sightseeing tour of the cradle of the Renaissance: Piazza del Duomo, Santa Maria del fiore cathedral, Giotto’s bell tower, St John baptistery, the Academy of Fine Arts Gallery housing Michelangelo’s David and 13th century Santa Croce church with Cimabue’s famous crucifix. Lunch at leisure. Rest of the day at leisure for optional sightseeing or shopping. Dinner and overnight Hotel Adriatico or similar.
Day 3 – Thursday –Florence-Padua-Venice. Buffet breakfast. On to Padua where we will visit St Anthony’s cathedral guarded by Donatello’s "Guattamelata". Lunch at leisure. On to Venice for a guided walking tour: Piazza and Basilica San Marco, Dodge palace, Bridge of the Sighs and the prisons. Remainder of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Principe or similar.
Day 4 – Friday – Venice. Buffet breakfast. Day and lunch at leisure. Optional tours available. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Principe or similar.
Day 5 – Saturday- Venice –Verona-Lake Como. Buffet breakfast. Morning
departure to Verona for a tour of Romeo and Juliet birthplace. Lunch at
leisure. On to Lake Como. Dinner and overnight Grand Hotel or similar.
Day 6 –Sunday – Como-Milan-Bologna-San Marino. Continental breakfast. On to Milan for a highlights city tour. Lunch at leisure. On to medieval art town of Bologna for a tour including charming squares of Piazza Maggiore and Piazza del Nettuno.Lunch at leisure. On to San Marino, the world smallest and oldest independent Republic founded in year 301 as a Christian Sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Titano or similar. Day 7 –Monday- San Marino- Perugia- Rome. Continental breakfast. On to charming ancient University town of Perugia for a tour of the cathedral and Dei Priori Palace. Back to Rome. Optional extensions
